Frances
Fox
d. Aug 29, 2026
Frances Ann Langan Fox, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at
home surrounded by the love of her family. Fran lived a full and joyful life. She rarely missed an
opportunity to be with people, lend a helping hand, or making someone feel welcome.
Fran was married for 73 years to her high school sweetheart, Joseph “Joe” Fox, an appliance
designer for General Electric. Together, Fran and Joe built a life centered around family,
friendship, service, and travel
Truly nothing was more important to Fran than her family. She and Joe were devoted parents to
Susan Compton (Don), Karen Franczek (Stan), and Joseph Fox Jr. Fran especially treasured
being a grandmother. She and Joe happily babysat their grandchildren and could often be
found cheering them on at softball games, track meets, and other activities. Being present for
the people she loved was one of Fran’s greatest joys.
Fran was a true “people person.” She loved being around others and was always ready to pitch
in wherever needed. Over the years, she took on countless roles—from room mother and
cookie chairman to volunteer and caregiver. Fran volunteered for 28 years, with Joe joining her
for 15 of them at Fern Creek United Ministries Adult Daycare.
Fran was also a longtime member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where she and Joe served
for many years on the Bereavement Committee. She helped organize lunches for members of
the congregation who had lost loved ones. Fran also helped to start a Secret Sisters Club at
her church which provided encouragement to many older women.
Fran and Joe shared a love of adventure. They traveled the world, creating memories together
in places near and far. At home, they enjoyed their many friends and neighbors and never
missed an opportunity to have fun. Fran especially loved Halloween and she and Joe
assembled many fun and imaginative costumes over the years.
Fran was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Fox Compton; her sister, Patricia Langan;
and her mother, Emma Langan.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Fox; her daughter, Karen Franczek (Stan); her
son, Joseph Fox Jr.; her grandchildren; foster grandchildren; and many friends and
neighbors .She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered,
