Obituary

On Tuesday, November 20, in her home, Evelyn Riddle Harth fell into her deep sleep awaiting the return of Christ surrounded by love, support and Christian fellowship at the revered age of 99 1/2.

As the oldest child of six, she often reflected upon the dedication and sacrifices made by her parents during the great depression and after WWII.

Evelyn Riddle Harth was academically exceptional in school with an A in every subject except in one class, study hall, where a B was earned for talking, per her brother, Roland.  She graduated business school, studied accounting, and tested to qualify for a job with L & N Railroad. Her dedication proved a perfect score thus prompting her career start in November 1944.  She met the man of her dreams there, married, and dedicated her life to their partnership in real estate, investment, and adventure. (She often stated that they never spent a night apart until his death). Although childless, Christmases were reserved for her parents, siblings and their children.

Evelyn showcased equal opportunity for females early on.  WWII ended, her husband returned, and other male executives reclaimed their jobs from the women.  The job that Evelyn had earned, she fought to keep, and won.

Preceding her in death:  her beloved husband, Selman M. Harth, loving parents, William "Bill" Granville Riddle & Hazel Ruth Hysinger Riddle, siblings, Billie Riddle, Darwin Elwood Riddle (Wanda, living) Melvin Thomas "Tom" Riddle (Connie), and John "Wayne" Riddle (Carolyn, living).

Surviving her is her beloved brother, Roland "Ron" Rice Riddle, the "Last Man Standing" and the "Cat With Nine Lives."

Nieces & nephews preceding her in death:   Patty Burris, Douglas "Doug" Riddle, and Marcia Evelyn Riddle (her namesake).
