Thomas Edwin Bates, 67, died Thursday, September 1, 2022.

He was a Navy veteran and worked in maintenance.  He was a member of the Louisville Underwater Explorer Society and Louisville Poker Team.

Ed was preceded in death by his son, Joe Bates and is survived by his daughter, Michal Thompson; sisters, Mary Bates Giles and Phyllis Bates Mayo (Joel); brother-in-heart, Barton Dejarnet; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service is 3pm Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.  Visitation is after 2pm Saturday until the time of the service.
