Obituary

Dottye Simpson, 77, died Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Dottye's life was a testament to the power of love, faith and family.  Her legacy of selfless acts, generosity and compassion for her family and friends will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

She was born Dorothy Louise Spalding on June 29, 1947 in Frankfort, Kentucky, daughter of Joseph Milton and Maxine Baynham Spalding.

Dottye retired from Anthem BC/BS as a member services representative after 26 years of service.  She was a graduate of Seneca High School and a former member of Beta Sigma Phi.  She enjoyed playing Bunco and spending time with her family.
"Mom had an endearing love for her husband Frank.  Each day was a competition of "I love you mostest", when proving their love for one another. Mom had her loving and unique way of ending her phone conversations with her children and grandchildren by saying "Bye Love You Bye", which shall remain in our hearts forever".

A member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, she exemplified her devout faith through her unwavering devotion and acts of love, embodying the true spirit of GOD in all she did.  She was a guiding light for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dottye was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Spalding (Norma).

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Frank Simpson; son, Ron Simpson (Brenda); daughter, Christy Fee (Steve); grandchildren, Rebecca Washington, Robert Payne, Chelsey Whitfill (James), Trevor Sparks (Kaitlyn), Patrick Simpson (Kaeson) and Corey Fee (Lily Riordan); great grandchildren, Allison Washington, Conner Couch, Knox Whitfill and expected to arrive in October, Haven Sparks; siblings, Catherine Lanham (Joe), Edward Baynham Spalding (Becky) and Tom Spalding (Andrea); God daughter, Dara Badgett (Ken); and a host of beloved extended family & friends.

Funeral mass is 10am Monday, September 30, 2024 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky with private interment.  Visitation is 12-4pm Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky.
