Dorothy Jean Ryan, 93, died Friday, November 21, 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was born November 27, 1931 in Howardstown, Kentucky, daughter of Joseph Leonard and Pauline Whelan Rogers.  A devoted wife and mother whose life was anchored by faith, family, and service, Jean raised her children while supporting her husband through 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy.  Always a small-town country girl at heart, she made homes for her family wherever Navy life carried them, including countries like England and Iceland.  Following their military service, they returned to Louisville, where they continued raising their four children and serving their community through active involvement in the various ministries at St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan T. Ryan; and nine siblings.

Survivors include her children, James Ryan (Betty), Kathleen Greene (Richard), Michele Wolff (Tom) and Laure Ryan; beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and dear sisters, Julie Hardesty and Josephine Faulkner.

Visitation is 2–4pm Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road followed by a funeral service at 4pm.  Burial is 10am Monday, November 24, 2025 at St. Augustine Cemetery in Lebanon, Kentucky.
