Dorothy Welch Hatfield, "Dot", passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, after a long, full life. Dot was born on December 21, 1930, to Mamie and Herschell Welch in Jefferson County, Kentucky. After the death of her mother, Dot and her six brothers and sisters were raised by their grandfather, Edward Welch.

Dot was married 57 years and preceded in death by the love of her life, Hoover Hatfield. Together they raised two children, Greg Hatfield (Karen) and Kathi Hatfield Lawson (John). Dot and Hoover were long time members of Fern Creek Christian Church.

She was a 1949 graduate of Fern Creek High School and a retired business manager for Connecticut Life Insurance Company.

Dot was preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Richardson, Betty Jo Meredith, her cherished baby sister Marylyn Phelps, and her brother Grover Welch. Dot was also preceded in death by her sweet great-granddaughter, Skyler Hatfield-Stone.

Besides her two children, Dot is survived by her brothers, Jim Welch (Betty) and Chuck Welch (Diane), four grandchildren, Heather Lawson Bolling (Robert), Chris Hatfield (Suzanne), Kyle Hatfield (Mallory) and Perry Lawson (Jasmine), seven great-grandchildren, Olivia Hatfield, Aidan Bolling, Emma Bolling, John Bolling, Teddy Bolling, Olivia Bolling, Mason Lawson, and two step great-grandsons, KJ and Blake Crouse.

Her funeral is 12pm Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with burial in Chenoweth Run Cemetery.  Visitation is after 10am until the time of the service.
