Doris Jean Schanie, 96, died Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

She worked as a secretary for F.W. Owen Construction Company in Louisville for over 20 years, a homemaker, a member of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville, and attended Eastland Park Church of the Nazarene in Lexington for the last several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit T. Schanie.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Elliott (Adam); grandchildren, Elizabeth Eckman (Gary), Jacob Elliott, Katie Spencer (Raliegh), Hudson Elliott, Gideon Elliott, and Avery Elliott; and great grandchildren, Simeon Eckman, Lilly Eckman, and Drew Spencer.

Her funeral is 1:00pm Friday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Rd with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Her funeral will be officiated by Andy Newman and Doug GoForth.  Visitation is after 11am until the time of the service.
