The dance card is now full.  Dick and Margie Brohm, and Chuck Ruckriegel are now joined in heaven by Chuck's wife Doris.

Doris Ruckriegel passed on August 20, 2025, at almost 98 years old.

Born Doris Louise Straub on September 15, 1927, she attended Fern Creek High School with her bestie, Margie Landers.  Shortly after World War II, she married Robert (Chuck) Ruckriegel, Jr., & they had their son Robert two years later.  She and Chuck thoroughly enjoyed each other's company for over fifty years, & never exchanged a cross word.  Doris helped him in his huge garden, and once they became empty-nesters, they made many new friends at the Sunday church picnics they would travel to.  Doris was never one to complain, never had a harsh word for anyone, and was a joy to all who knew her.
She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Wright; son ,Robert and daughter-in-law, Kara Lee; and sister-in-law Joy Straub.  The family wishes to acknowledge the following, who made Doris' life so much more full because of their evident love for her.  Melanie Smith, who always cheerfully helped Doris and Chuck in so many ways; the more than generous and caring Brohms (Betty, Judy, Patty, and Karen), who loved and treated Doris like a second mother; Linda Straub for her many calls and visits, and Ray Dennison for his support of Doris when she was living at home by herself. We would also like to acknowledge the staff of Masonic Home for the wonderful care they provided her in her final years.

Her funeral is 1pm Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.  Visitation is 3-6pm Wednesday.
