Donald F. Rogers, 83, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. He was born on October 22, 1942, to the late Noble and Elsie Rogers.
Don was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. He began his career as a welder at International Harvester. Never one to sit still, he eventually became self-employed, building a life through rental properties, farming, and backhoe services. Alongside his wife, he also opened his home and heart as a foster parent to more than 200 children, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives.
In 1992, Don purchased 60 acres of farmland in Spencer County, Kentucky, and over the years expanded it to more than twice its original size. The land became his life's passion. He raised tobacco, cared for a small herd of cattle, and dreamed of one day building a home for his beloved wife, Linda Faye, on "Possum Ridge." Whether he was tending the fields, caring for his cattle, or simply taking in the view, that was where Don felt most at peace.
Don was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky men's basketball team. Whether the Wildcats won or lost, he rarely missed a game and never stopped cheering them on.
More than anything, Don treasured his family. He especially loved watching his three granddaughters grow from adorable, little girls into remarkable young women. They were, without question, his greatest source of pride and joy.
Don lived a simple life, rich with the things that mattered most—faith, family, hard work, and the land he loved. He had a story for just about every occasion, and those stories, along with his easy smile and steady presence, will be cherished and retold for years to come.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Linda F. Rogers, and his sisters, Betty Lawson and Bonnie Connell.
He is survived by his son, Donald N. Rogers (Amy); and his granddaughters, Abbey Bowman-Rogers (Allie), Darcee Nice (Andy), and Grace Rogers.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Don's life at a funeral service on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Fern Creek Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 8, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., and again Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
