Obituary

Melvin Richard Pike - or better known as Dickie, was born on March 1st, 1950 and returned to the home of his lord and savior on Friday, April 17th, 2026 at the age of 76, in the comfort of his own home in St. Matthews, KY (originally from St. Joseph, Missouri). He was surrounded by all of his loved ones when he gave his last breath to enter into his eternal life.

A loyal husband, father, brother, and papaw - After marrying his high school sweetheart, Linda, he joined the Army Reserves. Soon after, he graduated from The University of Louisville with a Business Major. Dickie was someone who was smart and very driven for success, who enjoyed to chase any dream he had. If he could learn it, he could do it.

From this, he became a Draftsman and Regional Mktg. Manager for KFC and several national restaurant chains, owner/operator of two restaurants, the first cellular franchise for Bell South in KY, Owner of Printer's Mark Printing and eventually became self employed with his own Remodeling and Construction company, "Rent-a-Man".

Dickie enjoyed so many things. Fishing, building and remodeling, singing and playing guitar, fixing things that did or did not need to be fixed, cracking a joke, taking his beloved dog Willard to work with him and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Willard Pike; mother, Virginia Lee Meers; and sisters, Sue and Nancy.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 54 years, Linda Sirles Pike; sons, Andrew Pike, Jeremy Pike (Tracie), Aaron Pike, and Jason Pike (Andrea); grandchildren, Shelby Dewboys (Kyle), Cameron Pike, Audrey Pike, Hanna Pike, Holly Pike; a great grandchild, Asher Dewboys; and must we not forget, his furry sidekick, Willard Freckles Pike.

His funeral is 2pm Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY with burial in Penn Run Memorial Park.  Visitation is after 11am until the time of the service.

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to Donovan, Tori and Sidney from Hospice & all of our friends at Faith Community Church for their prayers and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Faith Community Church Building Fund.
