Obituary

J. David "Dave" White, 93, died Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dave was the retired owner of Kyana Packaging Solutions.  He was a graduate of Christ the King School, the 1950 class of Flaget High School and earned a BSBA degree from Xavier University in 1954. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Era and former Battery Commander in KY Army National Guard.

Dave had many interests.  At the age of 50, he followed a life-long dream and earned a private pilot license.  Dave said, "An hour of flying is like a week of vacation".  He was the former president of the Kyana Geological Society and the Louisville Pigeon Club.  As an active member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Dave participated in many of the church's ministries. In addition, he delivered meals for SeniorCare and was a member of the American Legion, G.I. Joe Post.

He is survived by his wife, business partner and traveling companion of 70 years, Inez Barhorst White.  Over the years, they enjoyed travel to all fifty states and all but two continents.

Other survivors include children, Regina Durbin (Tim), Kimberly Osborne (Keith), David L. White (Genny), Teresa Switzer (Paul), Melissa Gunter (Bill), and Patrick White (Robin); 15 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Joree O'Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leo J. and Mary C. White, his sister, Sister Ann White, SL; and brother, Richard L. White.

Funeral mass is 10am Monday, October 13, 2025 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road with burial in St. Michael Cemetery.  Visitation is 1-5pm Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road and includes a vigil service at 4pm.
