Obituary

Claudia Morris, born on May 1, 1944, daughter of Loraine Downs and Louis Stopinski, passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 82.

Above all, Claudia’s faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life. Her love for the Lord shaped who she was and how she loved others. She was a warm, tender-hearted woman with a naturally empathetic and caring spirit. She had a special gift for listening, understanding, and comforting others, and this gift led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Louisville. She was blessed to use her counseling abilities in the Bullitt County Attorney-Child Support Division. She had a genuine desire to help others. She found joy in serving others and volunteering with many ministries at her church including counseling in the Care ministry.

Some of her favorite activities were fishing and reading. In her later years, as she experienced a loss of mobility, her beloved little Bichon dogs became an especially meaningful source of companionship and happiness. They brought laughter and joy into her days, entertaining her as if they were her own grandchildren. Her dogs, Belle and Georgie, held a special place in her heart.

Claudia was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Morris; her brothers, Tom Stopinski and Bill Stopinski; and her cherished dog, Belle.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Divine; her son, Robert Morris; her sister, Mary Boehnlein; her brother, Lewis “Bugs” Stopinski; and her beloved dog, Georgie.

Claudia’s faith in Jesus shaped the way she lived and cared for others. She will be deeply missed, and the hope she held in Christ offers comfort to those who loved her.

Claudia will be remembered with love and gratitude by all whose lives she touched.

Her funeral is 5pm Sunday, November 1, 2026 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with private burial in Penn Run Memorial Park. Visitation is after 2pm until the time of the service.
