Cheri
Perry
June 13, 2025
Cheri Lynn Carrico Perry, 65, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Cape Coral, Florida. We are grateful that we were able to care for her at home throughout her 10-year journey with Alzheimer's dementia. She was cremated, in keeping with her wishes.
A celebration of Cheri's life, delayed to allow family from several states to attend, will take place on Saturday, June 21, at Fern Creek Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 3:00 p.m.
Cheri was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Norma Carrico; her brother, Billy Carrico; her sister, Leigh Ann Carrico Lyvers; and her granddaughter, Helena Margaret Dunlap.
She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 40 years, Rick Perry; her children: Sarah Davis (Corey), Kimberly Perry Dunlap (John), Jessica Perry (Kelly Johnson), and Jamie Perry; and her beloved grandchildren: Gavin, Ren, Addie, Sadie, Kaiden, Rose, and Sophie. She is also remembered with love by Joan Powell.
A 1977 graduate of Seneca High School, Cheri also attended Sullivan College. She worked for over 30 years as a legal secretary for Walter Porter, earning the respect and friendship of many.
Cheri had a deep love for sports—especially the Louisville Cardinals, pro football, and ice hockey. She was a longtime member of Southeast Christian Church, where she enjoyed Bible study groups and treasured her time volunteering in the Saturday night children's ministry alongside James Hunt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics Kentucky, a cause close to Cheri's heart. She was a dedicated volunteer and participated in the Polar Plunge twice in support of their mission.
Cheri will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and community.
