Bobby
Hayes
August 29, 2024
Bobby Hayes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of the Fern Creek community, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024, at the age of 92. Born in Willisburg, Kentucky, on August 21, 1932, Bobby was the son of Marvin (Margaret) Hays and Frances (Bill) Moore. He graduated from Willisburg High School in 1951 and, with a deep sense of duty, enlisted in the Army shortly thereafter.
In 1955, Bobby moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where he would build a life rooted in family, faith, and community service. He retired from GE after 36 years of dedicated service in 1986. Bobby's love for his community extended beyond his career, as he was an active member of the Buechel Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Kosair Shrine Temple and a longtime congregant at Green Acres Baptist Church. In recent years, he found a spiritual home at Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
Bobby had a passion for real estate and began his career as a Realtor in the early 1960s. His drive and entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Bob Hayes Realty in 1965, a business that became a cornerstone of the community. Known for his integrity and commitment to his clients, Bobby's work in real estate was an extension of his dedication to helping others.
An avid walker, Bobby could often be found strolling through the streets of Fern Creek, greeting neighbors and enjoying the beauty of his community. He was more than just a familiar face; he was a respected figure whose kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Frances, as well as his brothers, Tom (Peggy) Hayes and Billy (Peggy) Hays.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dolores Hayes, who stood by his side throughout their long and happy marriage. He also leaves behind his devoted sisters, Betty Sue Hayes and Mary Jo (Roy) Hughes, along with his children, Mike (Tammy) Hayes and Michelle (Roger) Graham. Bobby was a proud grandfather to Jonathan (Jenny) Hayes, Alisha (Rex) Toler, Shawn Graham, Jenna (David) Small, and Justin (Brooke) Graham. His great-grandchildren, Brooklyn & Beau Graham, Hayden & Jack Graham, Reagan & Kennedy Hayes, Luke & Liam Toler, and one on the way, will carry on his legacy of love and faith. Bobby also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him.
Bobby Hayes will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of faith, the importance of family, and the value of community. As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
