Obituary

Betty Sue "Susie" Martin, 89, died Sunday, September 15, 2024.

She was born February 22, 1935 on a farm in Falls of Rough, Kentucky, daughter of Warren and Lula Jane Purcell Robinson. She attended Murray State University in the 1950's. She later married her high school sweetheart, Clyde, on February 10, 1957 and had her only child, Vicki in 1959. Betty Sue was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1966.

Betty Sue lived most of her life in the Owensboro, Kentucky area. She was a retired registered nurse from the Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital where she worked Labor and Delivery for 38 years. In 2019, she moved to Louisville and lived in the Morning Pointe community. Betty Sue, called Susie by many of her friends, was a member of the Fern Creek Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She was known for her feisty personality. She loved people and she loved having a good time with friends and family. Until the very end, thanks to the help of the staff at Morning Pointe, she always made sure she never had a hair out of place.

In addition to her parents, Betty Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clyde W. Martin; and nine siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki L. Reed (Keith); granddaughter, Jessica Reed; sister-in-law, Nancy Robinson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral is 4pm Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation is after 1pm until the time of the service. Mike Dillon will officiate. The service will also be streamed live via Zoom. Meeting ID: 840 1921 6398. Passcode: 880635.
