Obituary

Betty Lee, 87, passed away on Sunday September 15, 2024.

She was born on April 11, 1937 in Auxier, KY, a very small town in Eastern Kentucky. She was the second of four children born to a coal miner and his wife. She was married in 1955 to Paul Wells, her high school sweetheart. She was a cheerleader and he was a basketball player at the small school in Auxier. They were married 43 years and had two children who are now married – Tammy (Michael) and Paul (Trish). At her time of death, she had seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

After Paul's death, she married Dick Lee. She worked beside him in the ministry of Servants of the Word. Dick authored over 70 "Take Sixty" booklets each having thirty, sixty-second devotionals originally meant for prison ministry. The books were distributed free of charge. Amazingly, they made their way to Africa where they were used as Bibles in small churches. Dick and Betty went on mission trips to Africa to teach in these churches and made many trips for outreach to other parts of the world.

She and Dick loved taking cruises with her high school friends and her brother, Jim. Gatlinburg was also a favorite destination with her sister Bonnie (Bill), now deceased, and brother.

She was a member of SpiritLife Church and a former member of Trinity World Outreach Center where she was church secretary for many years. She was very active in leading prayer groups at both. She will long be known as a prayer warrior by many who knew her.

Betty was an ordained minister visiting prisons and nursing homes. God used her in ministry to many people.

A celebration of Betty's life will be at 1 pm, Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Fern Creek Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with burial in King's Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 am prior to the service.
