Barbara Shields Gearheart, 87, died Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

She was born March 24, 1937, daughter of William and Mabel Ivy Shields and was a 1954 graduate of Fern Creek High School.

Barbara was a retired Jefferson County Public School bus driver.  She was a breast cancer survivor and was known for her great love of flowers and horses.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Gearheart; sons, Shawn and Mark Darragh; and sister, Nancy Heaton.

She is survived by her sister, Jennifer Winterton; grandchildren, Mark and Shawn Darragh and Cara Benebig; and dear friends, Bobby and Sue Brown.

Memorial visitation is 3-7pm Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.
