Alice Marie Gentry, 87, graduated to heaven on August 5, 2026. She was born on July 25, 1939 in Conowingo, Maryland to Ralph and Helen Jones. She was one of eleven children: Betty, Louise, Stella, Ralph, Nancy, Alice, Glen, Frankie, Johnny, Paul, and Harold. 

Alice was married to Gardiner Duane Gentry for 68 years. His "Mrs. America". Alice and Gardiner were blessed with three children: Denise Kennedy (Randy), Kim Dennison (Keith), and Jeremy Gentry. She was a beloved grandmother to Josh, Andy, Ally, Clay, Daisy, Lilly, and Hunter, and a cherished great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. She was also a much-loved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Alice attended Tennessee Temple Bible College and later shared her knowledge and faith as a teacher at the Kentucky Bible Institute. Her influence reached far beyond her own community and even across the world. She became affectionately known as “Mom” to the ministry established in Malawi, Africa in 1999.

To describe her would be none other than the Proverbs 31 woman.

Over the years, Alice wore many hats. She was a teacher, counselor, hospice caregiver, play director, pastor’s wife, soul winner, church bus director and floral designer. But no matter the role, caring for and serving others was at the heart of who she was.

Her life was one of faith, service, family, and love. 

Her funeral service  is 12pm, Monday, August 17, 2026 at Victory Baptist Church, 7808 Beulah Church Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40228 with a burial service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky to follow. Visitation is  also at the church on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 4 - 7pm and after 10am Monday until the time of the service.
